Crooners & Swooners is an art deco evening of classic martinis and classic burlesque. The night will feature incredible local burlesque legends Cinammon Kicks, Scarlett Hummingbird, Pacific Blue and Legzie Blaze. They’ll bring sultry classic acts with feather fans, boas and more!
=0D=0A=These acts are reminiscent of the golden age of burlesque which occurred 1900-1930, when some 200 burlesque theatres opened across America. Much more than a strip tease, burlesque shows both then and now feature a varied mix of singers, comics, jugglers, magicians and specialty acts. Classic burlesque often also focused on sketches, playing on the humour of the tensions between the upper and lower class.
=0D=0A=The two drag king hosts of the night, Ruffin Durdy and Robin Wood (the presenter), will play into the light-hearted feel of this golden age. They will serenade the audience throughout the evening with Sinatra-esque drag numbers and onstage steamy chemistry. There will also be a stand-up comedy at intermission in the lounge performed by the Marvelous Miss Sarah OO.
=0D=0A=To really create the cabaret vibe, 1920’s Flapper and Dapper attire are encouraged.
