His trademark sugarcane-sweet melodies, pop-soul hooks and rock chords subtly subvert commonly held notions of what Cuban music is. It’s a sound that is winning him fans and awards. Alex has received two JUNOs, a SOCAN award in Canada, a Latin Grammy Award in 2010 for Best New Artist, and was nominated for a 2011 Grammy in the Best Latin Pop Album category.
