DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
"Kadoski is a confident performer who has created a well-polished cultural addition to Vancouver Island's heritage." Amy Smart – Times Colonist
=0D=0A=

"Her musical ode to Cougar Annie is a treat to behold" - John Threlfall - CVV magazine
=0D=0A=

“It’s great to see our unique B.C. history being kept alive in so appealing a fashion.” —Robert Moyes - Monday Magazine
=0D=0A=

In the early 1900’s the legendary west coast settler Cougar Annie was anything but a typical woman. She trapped over 70 cougars, homesteaded a rainforest bog, opened a remote post office, and outlived 4 husbands.
=0D=0A=

California-born Ada Annie Jordan settled in the Clayoquot coastal rainforest in 1915 with her first husband and three young children. A five-acre garden that she carved out of the wilderness provided food and income throughout her long life. The bounty on cougars supplemented her income and she earned her nickname of Cougar Annie by shooting over 70 of the animals. Annie gave birth to eight more children in this remote location, and in fact rarely left the property until old age and blindness forced her removal to Port Alberni, where she died at the age of 97.
=0D=0A=

Singer/songwriter Kat Kadoski and her partner Neil Weizel, a surfer, lived and worked on Cougar Annie’s property in Clayoquot Sound from 2007-2010. The idea of going there had been sparked during the couples first date when Katrina asked, “If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would it be?” Neil smiled mysteriously, and answered, “I’d like to go back to Cougar Annie’s Garden.” He'd helped Peter Buckland build boardwalks and cabins there previously.
=0D=0A=

It seemed like a natural sequence of events that a few years later the couple found themselves in their dream job of caretaking there and immersed in the folklore surrounding the legendary pioneer-settler.
=0D=0A=

Katrina started writing songs soon after arriving in the garden, which led to researching many other sources, including Annie’s family, to create COUGAR ANNIE TALES. The 65-minute one-woman musical/drama uses dramatic narrative, images, letters, and original compositions to celebrate the unconventional life of one of BC’s most colourful characters. A 10-minute question and answer often follows the show.
