Carlton Erickson, Ph.D., research scientist and distinguished Professor of Pharmacology, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, and Director of the Addiction Science Research and Education Center in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin. Author of the Science of Addiction:  From Neurobiology to Treatment (2007), and co-author of Drugs, The Brain, and Behavior (2013). Recipient of the Betty Ford Center Visionary Award (2000), the 2003 Pat Fields SECAD Award, the 2004 Fred French Award for Educational Achievement, the Nelson J. Bradley Award for Lifetime Achievement (2007), the John P. McGovern Award for Excellence in Medical Education (2009) and the Annual Award from the American Society of Addiction Medicine (2013). A popular speaker and lecturer both nationally and internationally. Carl has spoken to approximately 88,000 health professionals and people in recovery since 1978.=0D=0A=

Dr. Marc Fishman is an addiction psychiatrist and a member of the faculty of the Deparment of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He leads Maryland Treatment Centers, a regional behavioral healthcare provider, which includes several inpatient and outpatient programs for adolescents, adults and young adults. In that role he has been involved in development and implementation of innovative programming in addiction and co-occurring disorder treatment. He is a national expert on youth addiction treatment and treatment matching. His academic work has focused on models of care and treatment outcomes for addictions in youth, particular opioid dependence. He is a past President of the Maryland Society of Addiction Medicine.=0D=0A=

Dr. Launette Rieb is a family physician certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine. She is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Practice at UBC, where she teaches Addiction Medicine. Dr. Rieb is the Physician Director of the St. Paul’s Hospital Goldcorp Addiction Medicine Fellowship. She works clinically at OrionHealth (Vancouver Pain Clinic) and The Orchard Recovery Centre - a residential treatment facility. Since 1997, she has been on the methadone course teaching team for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. She is on the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine’s Education Committee, and is past Chair of the College of Physicians and Surgeons’ of Ontario’s Inquiry Board for Physician Incapacity. Dr. Rieb received a UBC Faculty of Medicine Post Graduate Teaching Award for 2010-2011.=0D=0A=

Andrew Galloway, a Substance Abuse and Behavioural Health Specialist with Edgewood Health Network, is an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC). His practice includes interventions, assessments, counselling and referrals. Andrew was a featured Interventionist on the television show Intervention Canada. Besides his practice, he is a counselor for the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players Association Substance Abuse and Behavioural Health Program. He won the Award of Academic Excellence at McMaster University and in 2008, was awarded the Transforming Lives Award from The Centre of Addiction and Mental Health. He often speaks at schools and universities about addiction and was awarded The Harold A.D. Roberts Circle for volunteer service from one of those schools. He is in recovery himself and the father of two young boys.=0D=0A=

Ann Dowsett Johnston is an award winning journalist and author of the bestselling book Drink: The Intimate Relationship Between Women and Alcohol, named one of the top 10 books of 2013 by the Washington Post. A graduate of Queen’s University in Toronto, Ann is the winner of five National Magazine Awards, a Southam Fellowship and the Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy. In 2006 she became vice-principal of McGill University in charge of development, alumni relations and strategic communication. A former vice-principal of McGill University, she is the CEO of Pine River Foundation. She is also co-founder and co-chair of the National Round-table of Girls, Women and Alcohol, and a Director of Faces and Voices of Recovery Canada.
