These awards have been an important program for community building and partnerships since 1998. They brings awareness to the breadth and variety of the cultural activity in our community. Celebrating the cultural accomplishments of individuals and organizations and pride in our
community. This program also encourages and gives inspiration to aspiring young artists and future cultural leaders of our community. You are invited to join us to celebrate with the following recipients in a fun filled evening full of some energetic entertainment.
AWARD RECIPIENTS:
=0D=0A=Ms. Jacqui Kaese – Excellence in Culture: The 2017 Excellence in Culture Award will be presented to Ms. Jacqui Kaese for her energy and passion combined with her commitment to the Fine Arts community, its students, theatre and movie training to name a few. It has been
noted by the majority of her supporters that Ms. Kaese has been pivotal in showcasing the talent and scenery of Nanaimo with her impact in our community and families being profound.
The award recognizes organizations or individuals that have achieved regional and/or national recognition in the field of arts and culture (visual, performing or literary arts). Previous recipients include Brian Stovel, Diana Krall, Lynne Bowen, Jillian Vanstone, Pat Coleman, and Grant Leier & Nixie Barton.
=0D=0A=Ms. Gerda Hofman – Honour in Culture: The 2017 Honour in Culture Award will be presented to Ms. Gerda Hofman. Ms. Gerda Hofman will recieve the “Honour in Culture”Award for her generosity , knowledge and experience she is willing to share and her expertise through life drawing classes, at several arts events and at other galleries. Ms Hofman has contributed countless hours volunteering with the Nanaimo Art Gallery, the former Cultural Committee followed by the Cultural & Heritage Commission and the Vancouver Island Symphony. Ms. Hofman is a founding member of CVI Centre for the Arts Nanaimo and the Nanaimo Artwalk, which for over 18 years has grown from just a few artists to more than 40 artists at over 26 locations.
=0D=0A=The award recognizes individuals, groups or corporations known for their dedication and support of the development of the cultural fabric of Nanaimo. Previous recipients include Thora Howell, The Nanaimo Theatre Group, Arts Alive Summer School of the Fine Arts, Sandra Thomson, Ian Niamath, and Arlene Blundell.
