Speakers and workshops on how cycling, transit, and electric vehicles can make our city more sustainable.=0D=0A=
Participate in workshops about bicycle commuting and recreation, learn about bike safety and even get your bike fixed.=0D=0A=
Test drive electric vehicles and find out how they are a real alternative for you.=0D=0A=

Here are a few of the highlights to anticipate from the speakers who will be at Changing Gears:=0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;BCSEA founder, Guy Dauncey, will lay out the full picture of Transportation Without Oil; the vision of a future world in which transportation is safe, quiet, green and sustainable. =0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Todd Litman, internationally recognized for his expertise in Transportation Policy, will discuss changing trends in transportation as people realize the benefits of more pedestrian, bicycle and transit-friendly modes of getting around.=0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Laura Parker and Thomas Teuwen, who have been car free for over 14 years will present very practical, hands on solutions and discuss the benefits of a car-free lifestyle.  =0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;The Victoria Car Share Co-op will bring one of their vehicles that you could use when you become a member.=0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Kathy Gallegos, from the First Unitarian Church Environmental Action Team, will talk about a RideShare program being initiated by First Victoria Unitarian Church on West Saanich Road to reduce the numbers of vehicles traveling to the Saanich Peninsula on Sunday mornings.=0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Rita Fromholt, Sustainability Coordinator for University of Victoria, will feature the UVic partnership with BC Transit to reduce single occupancy vehicles to and from campus and James Wadsworth will speak about the Victoria Regional Transit Future Plan. =0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Transportation planners from Victoria, CRD and Saanich will discuss the variety of Master Transportation as well as Pedestrian and Cycling planning processes currently underway in the region.=0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Arlene Skagfeld, Bike to Work Week Trainer, will deliver a one-hour Bike to Work Week Safety Seminar on safety basics to lend confidence to your cycling. =0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;The electric car has an enthusiastic following and there will be a special Electric Vehicle room where owners of EV's including the Victoria Leaf Club members, will be sharing their real life experiences with an electric vehicle and answering your EV-related questions. There will also be an opportunity to test drive new electric vehicles including cars, bikes and scooters. =0D=0A=

&#61599;&#61472;Christina Ianniciello of the Ministry of Energy and Mines will show how EVs are quickly becoming a very realistic option for families today. You can find out about Plug-In BC as well as the current infrastructure and future expansion for charging stations throughout the region. In Greater Victoria, the increasing numbers of EVs on the road today are matched by the approximately 70 charging stations in the area.=0D=0A=
