Be sure to visit the Courtenay Museum on Saturday, November 26th as local history is celebrated with a couple of free illustrated talks. The afternoon event kicks off at 2 pm with Ian Kennedy, author of "The Life and Times of Joseph McPhee, Courtenay’s Founding Father."
=0D=0A=When Joseph McPhee laid out the town of Courtenay in the 1880s he possessed a vision of what “his” town should look like, and for the next sixty years, until he died at 98 in 1946, McPhee worked ceaselessly to fulfill that dream. Kennedy’s presentation will be followed by a book signing and refreshment break.
=0D=0A=Then, it’s over to co-authors Christine Dickinson, Deb Griffiths and Catherine Siba as they provide an illustrated overview of highlights from their 2015 book release "Watershed Moments, A Pictorial History of Courtenay and District." "Watershed Moments" is a coffee table publication created from the museum’s photographic archive.
=0D=0A=All funds from book sales go to support the museum and its projects. Co-author Judy Hagen will join the group after the presentation so all four authors will be on hand for a book signing opportunity.
