DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>The Butchart Gardens' summer festival presents top notch blues and roots music by the Bill Johnson Band and Gerry Barnum.<br /><br />This open-air concert takes place on the Concert Lawn stage. Come sit on a bench, or bring a blanket and sit on the lawn. <br /><br />The summer entertainment program is part of your <a href="http://www.butchartgardens.com/visit/rates">general admission ticket</a>.<br /><br /><strong>Bill Johnson</strong> has been playing blues close to 40 years. A master guitarist and vocalist, Bill has developed his own brand of laid-back, soul-thumping blues.<br /><br />Whether on his own, or performing with his band, his unique style and beautiful tone reveal a rare passion for the blues.<br /><br />A Juno nomination in 2012, and four Maple Blues award nominations have earned him a place among the countries best blues artists. From a slow burn to a blast of blues energy, his show is not to be missed.<br /><br /><strong>Gerry Barnum</strong> is a seasoned performer and respected artist. His erforming experience is diverse: festivals, coffeehouses, house concerts, theatres and studios.<br /><br />Gerry describes his &nbsp;sound as "soulful roots/original" and he is often referred to as a "musician's musician." An excellent harmonica player and slide guitarist, Gerry has been featured on many recordings. After a dozen years in the Vancouver music scene as well as some cross Canada touring,Gerry moved back to Vancouver island where he recorded his first CD "Pickin up the Pieces" 1998.<br /><br />Gerry has just completed his fifth recording titled "Step on In" featuring twelve new original songs, due out in May 2011. Recorded between late October 2010 and early January 2011 at Lois Lane Recording Studio in Nanaimo B.C. with Pat Steward and Doug Elliott, drums, bass (Odds, Colin James); Darcy Phillips, keys (Jann Arden). Guest appearances by: Tina Jones, vocals, trumpet (The Kerplunks) and Nick Hornbuckle, banjo (John Reishman and the Jaybirds).</p>
