DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
All are welcome to attend the debut BC event for multi-genre writer Shelley A. Just a few week's after its release, the book is already earning critical praise for both its text and images.
=0D=0A=

"Written in richly allusive, atmospheric prose that will keep lovers of words pinned to the page ..." -Kirkus Reviews
=0D=0A=

The poetic story is a modern allegory about loneliness and our need for human connection. Told in a folktale-style similar to Leedahl's award-winning "The Bone Talker," this new story features an unlikely intergenerational friendship, and highlights the importance of community.
=0D=0A=

"In this 21st Century, where communication is quicker and easier than ever, people are ironically feeling more disconnected than ever before. Loneliness has become an epidemic. Britian's prime minister has named a Minister for Loneliness; it's suggested that loneliness, a close cousin to depression, can be as lethal as obesity or smoking 15 cigarettes a day; and I was recently told by an RN that loneliness is the largest preventable cause of death in seniors," Leedahl says. "This story about aged Mirada, who speaks only to the moon; and Boy, a child who has been ostracized by the villagers, demonstrates how even a community of just two people can be of great value."
=0D=0A=

Come hear this prolific writer, now based in Ladysmith, share her latest book.
=0D=0A=
