LOCATION:Bethlehem Centre :: 2371 Arbot Road Nanaimo, V9R 6S9
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:
The Bethlehem Centre Society will be welcoming Laurel Borisenko, an international expert in humanitarian aid and immigrant integration on August 13th.
=0D=0A=

During her stay, Ms. Borisenko will be leading a day-long course, focused on peace building. Ms. Borisenko hopes to engage workshop participants in an exploration of creative solutions to conflict using arts-based strategies.
=0D=0A=

The presenter explains that violent behavior is produced by an individual who lacks the capacity to solve a problem creatively. Drawing upon the John Paul Lederach’s concept of “moral imagination” and examples of three distinct conflict-afflicted communities, Borisenko will teach us how to use our imagination to transcend violence.
=0D=0A=

The presenter’s Christian teachings reflect the basic tenets of the Bethlehem Centre, where staff and volunteers strive to create space for spiritual education. “It is imperative to provide a platform for people of different spiritual paths to find commonalities and create peace” says Bethlehem Centre Executive Director Kathleen Darby.
=0D=0A=
