Somerset is drawn to an interdisciplinary art practice as a means of exploring and communicating something about the ways in which we dwell in the world around us, and how we resonate with our exchanges. Her work often deals with how we inhabit spaces and our navigational strategies within and between these spaces.=0D=0A=

For over 20 years, Somerset has been exploring creative practices including visual and media arts, performance, storytelling, print media and artist’s books. At first she began working in advertising and design. After a few years her interests began shifting towards experimental art making and then eventually settled into what is now an interdisciplinary practice. As a way of shaping different kinds of projects, she is inspired by a range of materials and processes, including traditional, experimental and technological approaches.=0D=0A=

Somerset is fond of working independently and collaboratively. She currently collaborates with Tom Elliott as part of The Marble Factory Studio collective and with Lyne Lantaigne as part of Ambientworks Studio. Her experience includes instructing post-secondary art classes and workshops, working in artist-run organizations, non-profit communities, and as a freelance designer.=0D=0A=
