Ali McCormick brings her alt-country-folk-rock sound to the Duncan Showroom on June 18.

Also known as the Lioness of Lanark, Ali McCormick grew up in the Lanark Highlands just outside of Ottawa, Ontario on an off-grid hobby farm. She was drawn to music at a young age, live music around the kitchen table a common occurrence on the farm. With help and encouragement from her family she began writing songs. When it was obvious that music and song writing came naturally, her folks chipped in for an acoustic cutaway. She brought that guitar back and forth across the country as a youngster playing open mics, coffee shops, basements, attics, around campfires and anywhere else people wanted to hear her music. After many years and many many songs, Ali has developed a musical style all of her own and has graduated to booking both opening and headlining shows in some of the country’s finest venues, making friends and stealing hearts along the way. She is busy captivating audiences with her unique voice and lyrics steeped in references to life, love and rural Canadian living and can be seen live almost every week of the year in one place or another.

Ali’s live performances are truly unlike anything you have ever seen, and that is not just a generalization. It is difficult to place her under any one genre, but something that can be said with all certainty is that Ali brings an unabashed and complete feeling of honesty to every stage she plays. With a genuine love of performing, thirst for the open road and seemingly endless string of catchy songs this is an artist you can expect to see more of in the future.
