Cathy Converse presents “Against the Current: The Remarkable Life of Agnes Deans Cameron,” an illustrated lecture based on her newly released book.
=0D=0A=Agnes Deans Cameron was an extraordinary woman who set the educational establishment on edge. Born in Victoria to Scottish immigrants in 1863, she was ahead by a century and achieved a number of “firsts” in her life. She was one of the most well-known educators, writers, and lecturers in Canada and put western Canada on the map through her writing, cycling, and encouragement of Western immigration.
=0D=0A=In commemoration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, she was named one of the top most significant individuals in the history of the province of BC.
=0D=0A=Victoria author Cathy Converse has been writing for over thirty years and has written and co-authored six books and numerous cover stories for magazines and journals. Her most recent book, "Following the Curve of Time," was a BC Book Prize finalist for the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award.
