=0D=0A=
We've all heard the cliché "you're not getting older, you're getting better." This applies not only =0D=0A=
to the potters of Fired Up!, but also to their work. The May 2014 Show, A TOAST TO CLAY in =0D=0A=
Metchosin marks the 30th Anniversary of Fired Up! Contemporary Works In Clay.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Over the past 30 years, there have been a total of 22 members of the Fired Up! group. The current =0D=0A=
core group consists of ten members who continue to produce and exhibit exciting and innovative =0D=0A=
work. The annual show is a much anticipated tradition in Metchosin Hall, on the outskirts of =0D=0A=
Victoria, as well as an opportunity to come together to inspire, inform and support each other, =0D=0A=
however this year, for their 30thare ‘taking the show on the road!’ The Potters Place is delighted to be able to host this fantastic body of work.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=

the USA. This core group of potters will have works on display and for sale at the Potters Place =0D=0A=
throughout April and mid May, 2014.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Perhaps you have been a collector of pottery by Gordon Hutchens from Denman Island,… well, =0D=0A=
come and meet him, ask him questions – he absolutely loves to share his passion for pottery. =0D=0A=
Maybe you have collected Meg Burgess’s beautifully carved plates, and also studied with Meg, =0D=0A=
or Alan Burgess who was recently the Featured Artist at the Potters Place? Mary Fox’s work can =0D=0A=
be found in many Comox Valley homes as she was a Guest/Featured Artist at the Filberg Festival =0D=0A=
just a few years ago. They too are among the core members of Fired UP! and will also be on =0D=0A=
hand at The Potters Place on Saturday April 5th. Drop in for some baked treats and delightful, =0D=0A=
insightful conversation with these amazingly gifted potters.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
The Potters Place is so thrilled to be able to share the work of some of British Columbia’s most =0D=0A=
sought after Potters. The pottery community is very special in our desire to support great pottery, =0D=0A=
where ever it comes from. Well, right in our own back yard – British Columbia… you can find =0D=0A=
amazing potters that have been providing inspiration, education and beauty to all of us for over 30 =0D=0A=
years. =0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
The first Fired Up! hosted by Robin Hopper and Judi Dyelle in their Metchosin garden 30 years =0D=0A=
ago, brought together 12 ceramic artists who shared a vision of more than just another pottery =0D=0A=
sale. It was to show the public the many diverse ways of working with clay by demonstration and =0D=0A=
exhibition. =0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
The Fired Up! 30th Anniversary traveling Show opens at the Potters Place April 2 with ARTISTS IN THE GALLERY from 1-4pm, Saturday, April 5th=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
