What do warm coats, socks and gloves, sleeping bags, back packs, food and music have in common? They are all being brought together to benefit OUR HOUSE and their outreach to the homeless at a mystical, musical, metaphysical New Thought Christmas service at the Alix Goolden Hall, Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.
=0D=0A=“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Carrie Hunter of the Centre for Spiritual Living Victoria. “When Nat Carter of Unity’s Spiritual Community called and asked if I’d like to do a joint service with them this Christmas, I jumped at the opportunity! Together, we strategized about how we could help the homeless in Victoria this Christmas.” Hunter met with staff at Our House and toured the facility, coming away astonished by the work that is being done there. “I asked what the greatest needs were, and in addition to the above, I was told that rain gear and toiletries, and particularly feminine hygiene products are also needed.”
=0D=0A=Our House will have bins in the lobby of the Alix Goolden Hall in order to receive donations of much needed items. They will also have bins for non-perishable food. “If there is more food than they can use,” Hunter said, it will be distributed to Food Share, which is comprised of 40 local organizations.
=0D=0A=A Christmas sing-a-long begins at 6:40 p.m. with the service starting at 7.
=0D=0A=Musicians include the Lebeau Petersen Band, featuring Niels Petersen and Connie Lebeau, plus Danielle and Chris Lebeau Petersen; Michael Drislane; Darlene Haynes, Elizabeth Adams, Yahvel Velazquez, and others to be announced. A love offering will be taken during the service.
