Sponsored by the Nanaimo Arts Council, the Festival debuted in 2006 and held a sold out screening of short films by local filmmakers at the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre.=0D=0A=

There are many feature film festivals on Vancouver Island, but none that specifically serve short filmmakers. Many of our entries feature local actors, writers, directors, musicians and film technicians. The 2014 Festival will showcase amazing short films in a multitude of genres and styles February at the Vancouver Island University Theatre=0D=0A=

The Vancouver Island Short Film Festival creates opportunities for local filmmakers, not only to screen their films, but to network with other film professionals and inspire growth in our film community. =0D=0A=

<b>SUBMISSIONS:</b>=0D=0A=

Submissions for the 9th Annual Vancouver Island Short Film Festival will be accepted until November 1st 2013. The VISFF will showcase the best short films Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th, 2014 at the Malaspina Theatre at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo.=0D=0A=

Entries will be viewed by a selection committee and an awards panel; all decisions made  by both the Selection and Awards judges will be final. A short list of the selected films for the screenings in February will be announced by January 1st, 2014. If your film is accepted into the Festival we will contact you to request production stills, bios, and any other pertinent information. Each accepted filmmaker will receive artist fees ($50 per film, per showing) and 2 complimentary tickets to the night that their film will be screened in February. Additional tickets for either show are $15 and will be available for sale starting November at www.visff.com. A limited amount of tickets will be available at the door on the night of the show.=0D=0A=
