DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:A stroke is sudden, terrifying and destructive. A stroke occurs when=0D=0A=
blood flow to the brain is blocked or interrupted. When blood is unable to reach an=0D=0A=
area or areas of the brain, brain cells begin to die, which can cause permanent=0D=0A=
damage. The extent of that damage varies from person to person, and can result in=0D=0A=
problems with speech, memory or movement—but in all cases the person’s life is=0D=0A=
irrevocably changed. Nothing is ever the same.=0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Stroke survivors and family caregivers are invited to attend a 5 week=0D=0A=
community stroke recovery education series.=0D=0A=
Participants will learn:=0D=0A=
● Coping with change and stress after stroke=0D=0A=
● How to get what you need from your care team=0D=0A=
● Building supports in your community=0D=0A=
● Your New Normal: redefining yourself after stroke=0D=0A=
● “Life after Stroke” ways=0D=0A=
to cope with life not just in the days right after the=0D=0A=
stroke, but the weeks, months and years after the hospital stay ends.=0D=0A=
● Gaining increasing independence and life enjoyment after a stroke.=0D=0A=
Participants will also meet other stroke survivors and caregivers and will leave with=0D=0A=
knowledge, tools, skills and information that will in the journey through life after a=0D=0A=
stroke. They’ll learn life will never be the same again but=0D=0A=
that it can be productive,=0D=0A=
enjoyable, and sometimes, even better. There is life after stroke.=0D=0A=
