This unique blend of documentary, archival footage from past performances, road trip, video poems, interviews, and public performance art examines Smith’s provocative art and lifetime of stories about his body. Channeling the essay-style films of Agnès Varda, Smith interweaves past footage of a “failed” documentary that was never completed where he travels by ferry to the Sunshine Coast in BC dressed as Peanut the Clown to search out singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, with a contemporary meditation on gender and Michael’s own gender journey from body shame to a more radical acceptance.
