It is an opportunity to learn about diabetes self-management while connecting and motivating people living with diabetes in your community.</p>=0D=0A=

<p>The focus this year is on healthy eating. &ldquo;People are sometimes confused these days about what to eat - with all of the fad diets and latest miracle foods - it can get pretty overwhelming,&rdquo; says Penny Murray, branch coordinator for the CDA. &ldquo;The expo is a great opportunity to come with your concerns and questions and get some answers from registered dietitians, chefs, diabetes educators and other qualified professionals to help you make informed choices.&rdquo; In addition, you can also have your feet checked, take your blood pressure, and &lsquo;Ask the Expert&rsquo;, which will include pharmacists, dietitians, a pedorthist, a kinesiologist, foot care nurses, and more!</p>=0D=0A=

<p>Dr. Zentner&rsquo;s inspiring talk will focus on how to break habits and make healthy choices. She is an advocate for initiatives in the treatment of diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease and an author. She is also the Medical director of the Vancouver Island Bariatric Program at Royal Jubilee Hospital.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>Dr. Bruce Verchere, PhD Type 1 Diabetes Researcher, University of British Columbia David Mincey, Chef and founder of the Chocolate Project, Preservation Foods, Island Chefs Collaborative and Camille&rsquo;s Restaurant. Dr. Verchere and David Mincey will co-present on a fascinating topic yet to be disclosed! Mrs. Pudding, a.k.a. Diabetes Nurse Educator, Sue Schaefer, RN, will be our special guest emcee. A health care professional with a comedic talent!</p>=0D=0A=
