The Butterfly Ball is an enchanting evening of magic and entertainment for dads and school-age daughters, a dinner and dance that celebrates and strengthens the special relationship they share.
Every year the event’s theme changes and is only revealed with the grand opening of the ballroom doors. Past themes include Russian Winter Wonderland, Springtime in Paris, and Venetian Masquerade. Once inside the ballroom, the girls and their dads enjoy dance lessons, a delicious meal, games, dancing, and the crowning of the Belles of the Ball.
The evening’s activities include live and silent auctions, a photo booth, and the girls’ favourites—light-up drink glasses brimming with fruity slushies and surprise bags, all designed to raise funds for Children’s Health Foundation.
Amid the flurry of festivities, there is a point at which quietness descends, a moment that calls to mind the true reason dads and daughters have gathered for this magical Ball. Everyone settles in to listen as a father and daughter tell their story—the story of how support from Children’s Health Foundation has made a difference in their lives.
With the story’s closing words, the room comes to life again, but the story remains, etched in the memories of those present, and stands as a reminder of the true warmth that only philanthropy can deliver and the power it has to enrich and improve our community.

Previous Butterfly Ball dads and daughters have told us that while the fun of the Ball lies in getting dressed up and spending an unforgettable night together, the importance of the evening—to raise funds to help kids with health challenges and disabilities—is always top of mind.

According to Canada Revenue Agency regulations, the receiptable amount for event tickets is the ticket price less the cost of goods and services provided at the event.
