DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>Crimson Coast Dance Society produces the InFrinGinG Dance Festival each year. This is a jam-packed weekend of various dance companies and genres, dance classes and audience to artist dialogue sessions.&nbsp; Dancing in the Belly of the Dragon: Breathing the Fire Within happens July 9-12, 2015 at Maffeo Sutton Park, V.I. Conference Centre, and the Port Theatre.&nbsp;</p>=0D=0A=
<p>During the Festival there will be African Drum and Dance, Salsa, Fire and Dance show, First Nations Dance, Samba, Ukrainian dance and a special show by MACHINENOiS, all about gender, identity and community. <br /><br />Enjoy cultural dance on hot summer nights.<br /><br /></p>=0D=0A=

Pablo and Noel bring an intense passion and expertise in Tango to InFrinGinG Dance Festival.&nbsp; These classes will turn up the heat on your Tango experience.&nbsp; Check it out&hellip;experienced or not.<br /><br />9:00 PM -&nbsp; Carnation Ceremony<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />With performer led fire procession by Firebelly Entertainment<br /><br />9:30 PM - Fire and Dance show<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />FireBelly (Vancouver) returns to Nanaimo to present a full length show, titled: Singed Feathers.&nbsp; Be touched as we pay tribute to a troupe, specializing in fire performance, aerial dance, and site-specific work. Founded in 2000 by Artistic Director, Kira Schaffer, Firebelly has performed at a variety of events, including the Vancouver International Dance Festival, Vancouver&rsquo;s Cultural Olympiad, and for the opening of the SFU Woodward's campus in downtown Vancouver.<br />Firebelly often creates work for unconventional settings and is inspired by the process of transforming fear into pleasure and finding expressive possibilities within physically limited situations.<br /><br /><strong>Saturday, July 11</strong><br />12:30 PM&nbsp; - First Nations Dance<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />We work, play and live in Snuneymuxw Territory and are grateful for the opportunity to do so.&nbsp; Crimson Coast Dance Society is honoured to work with the Snuneymuxw First Nations Dancers and Foot Prints of Wolves Vocal Group to display the artistry and culture of these people.<br /><br />2:00 PM - Dancers of Brasil (Axe Capoeira from Comox Valley)<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />Be prepared to feel the heat of Brasil!&nbsp; Crimson Coast Dance Society is thrilled to have the opportunity to present this fast shaking, rhythm smoking, hot dance troupe and band.&nbsp; Who would have guessed the Comox Valley is home to this level of excitement and expertise. Bring your South American friends and celebrate the cultures from &lsquo;down under&rsquo;.<br /><br />2:30PM - Shake your Samba<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />Hop on stage and try your Samba.&nbsp; Open to all ages and experience levels.&nbsp; This free class will set you in motion for the rest of the night.<br /><br />3:00 PM - Body Talk Project<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />Our Spring Break Youth Program is a mentorship, creation, production project for teens. They curate genre and choose either cultural dance forms and/or extreme dance forms to share with the community. For our festival this year we will remount their Spring Break Project. This will offer them yet another opportunity to further understand the world of dance.<br /><br />4:00 PM - Through the Voice of Youth Circus<br />Maffeo Sutton Park Entertainment Stage, FREE<br />Body Talk Youth Cru will teach a workshop that introduces their process in the development of the work presented.<br /><br />6:00PM - Prox:Imity Re:Mix, Gender, Identity and Community, Where do you stand?<br />A show about gender, identity and community. &nbsp;<br />The Port Theater, Tickets: $15 early bird,&nbsp; $20 after July 9<br />MACHINENOiSY, Vancouver&rsquo;s premiere edge in contemporary dance companies is spending two weeks in Nanaimo working with local youth to create a work that shines the light on Gender, Identity and Community. Support this opportunity for the voice of our local LGBTQ, Questioning, Or Not, youth to rise and shout. The work is developed from June 29 to July 10 in Nanaimo with local youth participants and under the direction of MACHINENOiSY and through explorations of stories, exercises, conversation and the experience of MACHINENOiSY&rsquo;s travels as they have taken this residency across the province to communities such as ours.
