DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:<p>The Nanaimo Museum is hosting a feature exhibit in December called <em>1950s Christmas</em>.&nbsp; The exhibit highlights popular culture in the 1950s, including Christmas and toys.&nbsp; <em>1950s</em> <em>Christmas </em>opens on <span data-term="goog_1362319471">Monday, December 1</span> and runs until <span data-term="goog_1362319472">Monday, January 5</span>.</p>=0D=0A=
<p><em>1950s Christmas</em> takes a nostalgic look at daily life and Christmas traditions.&nbsp; &ldquo;<em>1950s Christmas</em> is an ideal exhibit for generations of families to visit together,&rdquo; says Aimee Greenaway, Interpretation Curator at the museum.&nbsp; &ldquo;Many grandparents grew up in the 1950s so will recognize artifacts and photos from their youths.&nbsp; Fashions and trends from that era are popular right now with children of baby boomers.&nbsp; And, of course, the toys are interesting for all ages.&rdquo;&nbsp; Most of the toys in the exhibit are on loan from people in the community.&nbsp; "We always appreciate the strong community response for loaning us artifacts for the exhibit," says Greenaway.</p>=0D=0A=
<p>The exhibit coincides with the museum&rsquo;s busy Christmas season.&nbsp; &ldquo;<em>1950s Christmas</em> will be a great addition to our popular family Christmas event,&rdquo; says Greenaway.&nbsp; The <em>Under the Christmas Tree</em> event takes place on <span data-term="goog_1362319473">Saturday, December 13 from 12pm-3pm</span> and features professional storyteller, Margaret Murphy sharing Christmas stories at <span data-term="goog_1362319474">12:30pm</span> and children's activities afterwards until <span data-term="goog_1362319475">3pm</span></p>=0D=0A=
<p>Admission to the museum in the month of December is by cash donation to the Great Nanaimo Toy Drive.&nbsp; "The holiday season provides a great opportunity for us to support local organizations that help Nanaimo families," says Debbie Trueman, General Manager.&nbsp; "Community members can visit the museum for a family Christmas experience and know they are helping people in our area."</p>=0D=0A=
