We're all the same...and we're all not the same.
Isn't it a wonderful contradiction that as kids, we want to be just exactly like our parents and nothing like them at all?
If we can learn the beauty in that truth early on, we'll grow both an understanding of the first and a respect for the second. Let's venture out into the world seeing the gift of our differences. One of my favourite stories about this is the Salish legend of The Kingfisher. Give it a read HERE.
This Sunday is the longest day of the year, and we're not only celebrating Father's Day, but also both National Aboriginal Day and BC Family Fishing Day. Tremendous.
Take the opportunity to know someone better this weekend, whether you spend the day in a boat sharing tales or simply sit shoulder to shoulder in silence. The kingfisher knows that you get the best fish when you dive deeply.
