It's what we make out of what we have...
..not what we've been given, that separates one person from another.
This week the world community celebrates the life of one of it's greatest grandfathers. He leaves a legacy of wisdom and a remarkable example of how the potential to lead, to inspire and to be a force of tremendous positive change is within every one of us.
As Nelson Mandela has shown us though, we have to dig very deeply to realize that potential. We can't hope to be successful if we're looking down or behind us in fear. We need to develop the will to rise beyond our disadvantages, the resolve to endure adversity and the belief that peace and freedom are things worth reaching higher for.
There's an old proverb that says:
We honor that with white tops. The eagles. The mountains. The elders.
