Hug a farmer today.
"But I don't know any farmers!"
If that's the case, then it's time to give it some serious thought.
We may buy our food at a store... but that's not where comes from. When every glass of milk, bowl of salad and slice of meat arrives on our table, it's the end of a long journey that began on a farm.
We rely on the food system for life itself, so it's worth finding out more about where our food is produced, how it's done, and who's behind the scenes making it happen. This is a great time to do it, as BC Farmers Appreciation Week starts Sunday.
There are hard-working farmers growing food in every corner of our Islands right now. Get out and shake their hands this week.
You'll probably have to get up pretty early in the morning, though.
