The Victoria Conservatory of Music presents the 2010 Masters Series: Bach & Company, Saturday, March 27, 1:30 pm, and Tuesday, March 30, 7:30 pm, 2010 at the Alix Goolden Performance Hall. The Conservatory proudly hosts an annual orchestral and choral spectacle based around one composer. While previous years have included programs featuring the works of Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn, this year the VCM is celebrating Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries.
The Festival is composed of two concerts – a choral and concerto concert with orchestra on Tuesday, March 30, 7:30, which will serve as a showcase for the young, emerging talent of the Conservatory as they perform works that demonstrate the genius and of course the indelible and immortal melodies of Bach.
On Saturday March 27, at 1:30, members of the VCM faculty will perform chamber music of Bach and his contemporaries.
While the concert event is an opportunity for the VCM to produce a performance of the highest order, it also offers the students of the Conservatory the unique and priceless opportunity to perform alongside professional orchestral musicians, including members of the VCM faculty and the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. The soloists are joined by fellow students in the Conservatory Festival Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Stephen Brown and Giuseppe Pietraroia.
