Tom Paterson's Black Track Tour of Nanaimo Area Mines
Sunday, May 6th, 2012
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Tom Paterson, well known historian, writer and community activist, leads an historic walking tour of Nanaimo area old coal mine sites and railroad lines. Participants assemble in front of Morden Colliery's head frame. After visiting several old mine sites, they complete the tour at South Wellington Day, a bi-annual event at Cranberry Community Hall.
Tickets are $30.00 for one person; $25.00 for two or more in a party.
Proceeds go towards restoration of Morden Colliery's rapidly deteriorating one hundred year old head frame and tipple, one of possibly two such above ground structures in North America still standing.
Tom's Black Track Tour is sponsored by Friends of Morden Mine, a registered charity.
The tour is rated as moderate to easy walking. Further information on what to bring and to wear is available at www.mordenmine.com and includes descriptions of two previous tours.
Adult: $30(1) $25(2 or more)
