Opening with the well-known Eine Kleine Nachtmusic and Mozart’s most popular Violin Concerto No. 5, performed by concertmaster Calvin Dyck, and introducing extraordinary playing techniques, the mood changes with A Musical Joke which demonstrates Mozart’s wicked sense of humour and his joy at making fun of other composers—no bad composer was spared from his musical backlash! Mozart’s mastery and brilliance cannot be denied, particularly with the happy and elegant Symphony No. 29.
