Pacific Opera Victoria presents THE RAKE'S PROGRESS by Stravinsky

In English with English surtitles

Led by a sinister companion, a young man abandons his sweetheart for the dangerous excitement of London. When he gambles his life, he loses his mind - but his soul is saved through true love.

Stravinsky's music is tender and quirky, evoking now the bucolic English countryside, now the grotesque exuberance and seductive revelry of the dangerous city.

THE RAKE'S PROGRESS features Colin Ainsworth as Tom Rakewell, with Lucia Cesaroni as Anne Trulove and Gregory Dahl as Nick Shadow. The production is directed by Glynis Leyshon with conductor Timothy Vernon. Set design is by Allan Stichbury with costume design by Nancy Bryant.
