Spring Dessert Concert

Cantiamo is a 27-voice choir under the accomplished direction of Jennifer Riley, with members ranging in age from 13 to 24. For this concert they will be performing a wide range of material from a number of musical traditions. Bruckner’s “Ave Maria”, “Twa Tanbou” a Haitian song about cooperation, R. Murray Schafer’s “Gamelan” based on the gamelan music of Bali, as well as rousing gospel numbers will all make for a memorable evening of uplifting spirit and dazzling harmonies.
In addition to the whole choir, an octet comprised of some of Cantiamo’s most experienced singers will perform several songs, including “A Boy and a Girl” by Eric Whitacre. They have a special love for this music after the choir had the privilege of working with Whitacre on their trip to California 2 years ago.
This concert promises to be a wonderful finish for your Easter weekend. Tickets are $15 which includes dessert, and are available from choir members, at the door, or by calling Marki at 250-338-6478 to reserve. All proceeds from this concert will go towards renting a bus for the choir’s upcoming Island Tour.
