The more you see it, the more it becomes one of 'your favorite things'!
Bursting with the spirit of Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Sound of Music appeals to audiences young and old.
Maria, a nun who is causing the Abbey trouble is sent off to be governess to Captain Von Trapp's seven troublesome children. Maria teaches them to sing and Captain Von Trapp to love, but when the Nazis invade Austria, the whole family is forced to flee to safety.
"The Sound of Music has the power to profoundly move and touch us.” - Colin Maclean, Edmonton Sun
The South Island Musical Theatre Society has been bringing highest quality amateur musical theatre to the Cowichan Valley since 1982. They present an annual offering, generally alternating between operetta and Broadway musicals, with a mandate to preserve live musical theatre, keeping it alive for a generation who grew up with it; and introducing and encouraging a new generation to the wonders of the stage and choral work.
