Do you happen to have any musical instruments which are currently unused or other wise collecting dust in your home? Perhaps you used to play a clarinet, flute, saxophone or trombone but are no longer using it or it may not be working properly. Byron Maier, the President of the Victoria BC Ska Society, also known as the Ska Boss wants to give back to the roots of where the music comes by collecting instruments and money that the school needs and personally delivering them to the students of the Alpha Boys School in Jamaica.
Why the Alpha Boys School?
Because it is in need and has blessed us with an amazing and talented list of alumni including Don Drummond, Tommy McCook, Johnny "Dizzy" Moore, Lester Sterling, Desmond Dekker and Rico Rodriguez. It is time we give back to them.
The Truth Sound System will be bringing their Jamaican Sound System stylings to the mid island.
They will be playing a selection of 60’s Ska, Rocksteady, and Boss Reggae for your listening and dancing pleasure.
