The Tourism & Hospitality Management Students of North Island College are offering the opportunity for you to ‘unmask’ a new favourite wine. The students are hosting the 8th Annual Wine Festival, which is being held on Friday, March 19 from 7 – 9:30pm at the Campbell River Campus. “Midnight Masquerade” is the theme of the festival this year which will bring a touch of mystery and enchantment to the evening.

WineWiseGuy Doug Sloan will be in attendance to offer educational, interactive and entertaining wine seminars throughout the evening, which are included in the ticket price of $40. Nearly twenty wine representatives will be onsite to give guests the opportunity to sample and learn about over 100 local, international and specialty wines. Sloan comments, “The NIC ‘Third Course Bistro’ Wine Festival gives wine lovers the opportunity to compare numerous similar but different wines all at the same time. And then there are all the wines you've been wanting to taste but were afraid to buy in case you didn't really like them... and you just have to know that you're going to discover something new that will totally tantalize your taste buds!"

In addition to the wine, guests can taste hors d’oeuvres created by the talented NIC Culinary Arts students. The Wire Choir will be providing live music, while complimentary Starbucks coffee and friendly Designated Drivers will be on hand to wrap up the evening.

Harley Elias, Tourism & Hospitality Faculty highlights the benefits of this event, “Organizing an event of this calibre allows students to apply the wide variety of skills they have acquired during their time in the Tourism & Hospitality Management Program. Attending this event allows everyone in the community to directly support student learning.” With each wine festival, the students of NIC are building on their already strong reputation in the community. Pauline Woods, with PMA Wines & Spirits looks forward to the event, saying, “This is one of the best Wine Festivals on Vancouver Island, one not to be missed!”
