International Fleet Review

The Canadian Navy’s Pacific Fleet will mark the Canadian Navy Centennial with an International Fleet Review June 9 to 14, 2010. Thirteen ships from the Indo-Pacific Region are expected to gather at the Royal Roads anchorage in the approaches to Esquimalt Harbour.
It is expected that the ships will bring 8,000 sailors to Victoria. The fleet review will be supported by activities to entertain and engage residents and visitors. There will be a fireworks display, military air show, naval parade of visiting nations, sporting activities, and sightseeing tours. Also, there will be grand concert (“The Navy Rocks”) for Canadian and Visiting Sailors.
Viewing of ships arrival, Fireworks, Fleet Review and Air Demonstrations is possible at Fort Rodd Hill, Esquimalt Lagoon and Saxe Point Park.

7pm-9pm The Canadian Navy hosts visiting sailors at “meet and greet” social events where contingents representing each ship’s company will be treated to Canadian hospitality at our Fleet Messes.

9:45am Welcome Centre ribbon cutting
10:30-11am Naval Parade of Nations through downtown Victoria ... from Ships Point to the BC Legislature and back to Ships Point
11:45am-12:45pm Snowbirds Air Demonstration Team practice
1pm-6pm In preparation for the International Fleet Review, ships of the Canadian Navy and visiting foreign navies will move to the Royal Roads Anchorage Area.
10pm Evening fireworks display

9am-1pm A programmed sports competition where each nation will offer up their best athletes to compete in a series of sporting events.
10am-4pm The Victoria Model Shipbuilding Society will host a "Salute to the Navy" at Harrison Model Boat Pond on Dallas Road
Throughout the day, there will also be a variety of recreational activities offered including golf, sailing, hiking, cycling and more. Local sports recreation groups will offer an opportunity to play a friendly game of cricket (Beacon Hill Park), rugby (Bullen Park, Esquimalt), soccer, and beach volleyball.
Mon, June 14
8am-3pm The first of the visiting ships will depart from Esquimalt Harbour as the International Fleet disperses to carry on their individual programmes
