The Victoria premiere of a unique photography exhibit from the Great Bear Rainforest will culminate with a gala evening of music, speakers, silent auction and an opportunity to meet some of the photographers.
Please join us for the Great Bear Gala at the Canoe Brewpub! Speakers include internationally acclaimed photographer Ian McAllister, Marven Robinson of the Gitga'at First Nation, and Sierra's own Caitlyn Vernon.
Music by songwriter and roots rocker Vince Vaccaro.
The exhibit highlights current threats and conservation issues in the Great Bear Rainforest, and features work by internationally renowned photographers such as Thomas Peschak, Daniel Beltra, Cristina Mittermeier, Garth Lenz and Ian McAllister,
The Great Bear WILD exhibit is a result of a collaboration between Sierra Club BC, Pacific Wild and the International League of Conservation Photographers (iLCP) who conducted a Rapid Assessment Visual Expedition (RAVE) in the Great Bear Rainforest in 2010. During the RAVE, a swat-team of internationally celebrated photographers were deployed to document the proposed tanker route – from the narrow fjords and spirit bear habitat, to the coastal communities and abundant fishing grounds of the Great Bear Rainforest.
Hosted in the vibrant atmosphere of the Canoe Brewpub, these stunning images will be displayed until November 30.
