Mark your calendar for the Islands’ largest agricultural event of the year! Featuring a trade show with more than sixty exhibitors and two days of informative farm seminars, the first annual Islands Agriculture Show (IAS) will be held February 3-4, 2012 at Cowichan Exhibition Park in the District of North Cowichan, just 5 kilometers North of Duncan, B.C.
The Islands Agriculture Show provides a unique opportunity to showcase, celebrate and grow the agriculture industry on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. The event provides a regional forum for education, information sharing and networking between farmers (including those interested in new ventures in small-scale production), farm organizations, industry suppliers, government agencies, and the general public.
Visitors to the trade show can expect to see the latest and most innovative equipment and technology for the agriculture industry. Workshop participants will hear from leading edge speakers in farm business management, farm production practices, small farm development, government sponsored initiatives and industry programs.
The Islands Agriculture Show is being coordinated by a core steering committee that includes Economic Development Cowichan, Comox Valley Economic Development Society, Port Alberni Economic Development, District of North Cowichan, Farm Credit Canada, BC Ministry of Agriculture, MNP and the Islands Forage Committee. The event is funded in part by the Investment Agriculture Foundation of B.C. through the federal-provincial Agri-Food Futures Fund, Islands Agri-Food Initiative.
