Fraser Union first formed in 1983. The current members have been together since 1987, performing and recording songs that have a great deal of meaning to them and their audiences — and their audiences agree that a Fraser Union concert is a special experience. They can surprise you with their range of music from blues accompanied by dobro, guitars, and mandolins, to songs of West Coast life, whether accompanied or a cappella (great harmonies, either way), to a standard by Mose Allison or Bob Dylan. Fraser Union is a live group whose members engage with their audiences. They always create a memorable evening.
After more than 20 years of performance and four cd recordings the members of Fraser Union are well-rooted British Columbians, even though they come from diverse backgrounds. Barry Truter originated from India but has lived throughout the world. Henk Piket began life in Holland. Roger Holdstock started in England and has lived in the States. Perhaps that diversity is what attunes them to the music of this place of convergence.
In any case, together they sing and play great music.
