In celebration of International Dance Day, Dance Outreach Coordinator Anna Haltrecht, will show the recent work of Chinese-Canadian dancer-choreographer Wen Wei on ArtSpring’s big screen. This will include his solo “One Man’s…” and his group pieces “Three Sixty Five” and “Unbound”. Anna will also talk about Wang’s life of growing up in China and how he came to be one of Canada’s top choreographers, winning many prestigious prizes to create his highly inventive dance compositions. Wang’s precise direction seamlessly meshes classical Chinese dance, traditional ballet, and contemporary choreography. This mÈlange of styles results in an incredible body of work that is stripped, suggestive, edgy, and full of invention. This free event is sponsored by ArtSpring, Made in BC-Dance on Tour, The Dance Centre, Dancer Transition Resource Centre-BC Office and the Canadian Alliance of Dance Artists/BC Chapter.
