On Tuesday April 11th, up to 15 of Victoria’s finest chefs go head to-head in the 10th annual Colour Your Palate culinary competition, a fundraiser for the artsREACH program.
Chefs draw their top secret colour one month before the event, and design a sweet or savoury canapé in green, yellow, purple, red, or orange. The canapés are judged blind by industry experts and eligible for awards: Best Tasting Savoury Creation, Best Tasting Sweet Creation, and Most Colourful Creation.
As the exclusive wine provider for Colour Your Palate, Naramata Bench Wineries Association will showcase 18 to 21 of its wineries. “We are thrilled that this support from the Naramata Bench Wineries Association will enhance Colour Your Palate and elevate it into a must-attend food and wine event! The addition of this new wine component created the need for bigger space, but the positive upside is that more people will be able to attend and enjoy this event. This will help to increase awareness and raise more funds for the artsREACH program,” said Marilyn Sing, Chair of the Colour Your Palate Planning Committee and founder of the artsREACH program.
At the event, attendees eat each of the chefs’ creations to vote for their favourite canapé in the People’s Choice Award, taste the promotional wine poured by the participating wineries and can win door prizes. They can also purchase a raffle ticket for the highly-coveted mystery prize and bid on a wide range of silent auction items. Purchasers of the first 100 tickets sold are automatically entered into a special prize draw!

The artsREACH program provides high-quality visual and performing arts training to young children, regardless of their financial means. To reach the children who would benefit the most, free 60-90 minute workshops are delivered in public elementary schools identified as having a high percentage of low income families. Since 2005, more than 25,000 children have participated in an artsREACH workshop, taught by professional artists, actors, dancers and filmmakers. The artsREACH Society raises funds through grants, donations, sponsorships and fund-raising events to cover program costs (Registered Charity #86388 1074 RR0001).
