Do you love mass choir music? How about world class violin music at the same event? Safehaven: Refugee Sponsorship Group and Wendy Nixon Stothert, the regional director of the BC Choral Federation, are pleased to announce the second annual Choral Musaic. Commemorating National Music Monday, this fundraising concert will feature 6 choirs, including 3 children’s choirs. Also performing will be Mr. Sari Alesh, a classically trained Syrian violinist who himself came to Victoria last year under the Federal Government’s Refugee Program. Alesh has performed in the Arab Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and Syrian National Symphony Orchestra as well as being a session musician for many Middle Eastern popular music stars. He will be performing Turkish and Arabic pieces.

The concert will be held at Mark Isfeld School on Monday May 1st. Doors open at 6pm and the concert starts at 6:30. Admission is by donation and all proceeds are going to the Safehaven:Refugee Sponsorship Group to support the Syrian family of 7 that has been approved by the Government they are bringing to the Comox Valley later this year. More information will be forthcoming as the concert date gets closer, so mark it on your calendar! This is going to be special.
