11 am - 5 pm Friday 10 am - 4 pm Saturday

The Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the ever-popular downtown summer celebration known as ‘Bathtub Days Street Fair’ will continue on Friday and Saturday during the 2017 Marine Festival.

Two days of festivities will take place on Commercial Street and Victoria Crescent including Saturday morning’s “Sail Past on Wheels” parade.

Street closures will be in effect all day on July 21 & 22. This will allow for vendors, entertainment on stage and street, special events and activities during the daytime hours. “We’ve got a long list of entertainment and events planned all day long either on Commercial Street, Diana Krall Plaza and Victoria Crescent.

There is definitely something for everyone – from artisan vendors to live entertainment on stage, food trucks to martial arts demonstrations, a climbing wall, petting farm and even a 2-man sub from the proposed Ocean Discovery Centre” stated Kim Smythe, Chamber President & CEO who continued,  “Both days will be different from each other with the parade starting at 10:30 from the Old City Quarter on Saturday morning, it will change Commercial Street quite a bit. We’ll move some of the activities around but will still have all the popular attractions like jumpy castles, kids crafts and face painters. Bathtub Idol will appear on stage so come out and vote for your favourite singer at Diana Krall Plaza before you wander off to Victoria Crescent to participate in the watermelon eating contest and watch the waiter races.

This is the 51st year of Marine Festival, and we want to make it the best!”

Admission and most activities are free. The Street Fair runs from 11 – 5 on Friday and and 10 – 4 on Saturday. Updated information will be available at
