By the time the AIDS pandemic in African had reached its height in the early 2000s, millions of children had been orphaned. In the face of overwhelming loss, the grandmothers of Africa stepped in to hold families and communities together.

Working with the Stephen Lewis Foundation, Canadian grandmothers have raised more than $25 million to support African grandmothers and the grassroots organizations working at the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic through the Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. Two grandmothers from Uganda and one from South Africa will speak at Glacier Grannies African Dinner.

An African-themed meal will be catered and served by Tria Catering and there will be a silent auction and cash bar. Tickets are available from Blue Heron Books in Comox or The Laughing Oyster Bookshop in Courtenay or by calling Jane at 250-792-5993. A
