A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline

The Chemainus Theatre Festival presents A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline by Dean Regan, starring Sara-Jeanne Hosie in a musical tribute to a North American legend considered one of the most influential, successful and acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century.

A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline features an amazing five-piece band playing 20 of Patsy’s greatest hits, including Crazy, Walkin’ After Midnight, Sweet Dreams and I fall to Pieces. Follow Patsy’s climb to stardom from her hometown in Virginia to the Grand Ole’Opry Las Vegas and Carnegie Hall. Actor Andrew Legg plays radio personality Little Big Man.

Cline made her first recordings in 1955, within six years she became a consistent hit-maker and gained recognition as the nation’s favourite female country and western artist. Best known for her rich tone and emotionally expressive bold contralto voice, she became the inspiration of artists of all genres. Her life and career is the subject of numerous books, movies, documentaries, articles and stage plays. Unfortunately her fame was short-lived; in 1963 she died in a plane crash.

The Chemainus Theatre Festival is thrilled to have award-winning actor, choreographer, director, songwriter Sara-jeanne Hosie starring as Patsy Cline. “I have always been a fan of Patsy,” says Hosie, “many people easily identifed with her home-town girl personality. It is her voice that really captures people – you can hear her voice racked with emotion. I love singing her material!”
