“You had better start investing in a light saber” - The New York Times
Dust off your light sabers and brush up on your Elvish. World famous local performer Charles Ross is back by popular demand to perform a two night run of his smash hit shows One Man Lord of the Rings and One Man Star Wars Trilogy at the Metro Studio on Dec 20 + 21, 8pm.
After a recent tour of Ireland, the ‘Pick of the Fringe’ winner (Tara Firm and the Lunar War Chronicles, 2011) is back in Victoria with a limited engagement of his two one-man shows which have achieved cult fame with geeks around the world. Ross is generously performing the shows as a fundraiser to support Intrepid Theatre, who helped launch his career on the Fringe circuit.
Ross started out performing in a small makeshift venue at the Victoria Fringe, where this cult phenomenon began and has gone on to sell out his one-man cult hit shows across the globe at internationally acclaimed stages: Off-Broadway in New York, London’s West End, Glastonbury Music Festival and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.
One-Man Lord of the Rings takes you on a journey through the film version of J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece in 60 frenetic and entertaining minutes. Ross does it all in this hilarious, epic one-man show – booming special effects, riveting stage fights and harrowing rescues. Similarly, his first show, One-Man Star Wars recreates the magic of the Star Wars Trilogy in a ‘finely tuned minimalist feat’ (Charleston City Paper) of brilliant solo theatrics. Since 2002, One-Man Star Wars has performed over 1,200 times in more than 180 cities across four continents. Both shows are appropriate for all ages.
